Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization in Central California is seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager to support a highly specialized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This leadership role is ideal for a nurse with strong clinical expertise and a passion for mentoring teams while ensuring exceptional care for critically ill and premature newborns.
The Assistant Nurse Manager will partner with nursing leadership to oversee daily clinical operations, support quality initiatives, promote staff development, and help maintain a collaborative and patient-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and oversight of daily NICU operations
  • Support patient care delivery and ensure adherence to clinical standards and best practices
  • Mentor and develop nursing staff through coaching, education, and performance support
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental leadership activities
  • Help manage staffing, workflow, and patient care coordination within the unit
  • Support employee engagement and professional development efforts

Schedule

  • Exempt leadership position
  • 8-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN) required
  • Current and active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse Certification (RNC-NIC) required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU or related nursing experience
  • Previous leadership or management experience required

  • Prior experience in a high-acuity NICU setting
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Strong background in staff development and quality improvement initiatives
